12-year-old Kidnapped by Pittsburgh Man, Kidnapper Charged after Cops Busted Kidnapping Attempt

An individual from Pittsburgh is currently facing a number of charges, including kidnapping a minor and simple assault, after allegedly breaking a PFA order and removing a child who is 12 years old from her residence.

At approximately 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, the Pleasant Hills police department received a call about a kid being taken from an apartment unit located on Cerasi Drive. A woman informed officers that she had filed a personal family action (PFA) against Dhiran Rai, 25, after discovering that he had a sexual relationship with her daughter. Records from the court show that she stated that she discovered him lurking in the girl’s closet that morning.

According to the authorities, Rai and the girl decided to go on foot after a brief struggle with the mother. A number of different police departments were requested to conduct a search for them.

Not much longer after that, they were discovered on Mountain View Drive. Rai is accused of a number of crimes, including kidnapping, simple assault, fleeing arrest, criminal trespass, and interference with the custody of children. Aside from these, he is also charged with corruption of juveniles.

He was taken into custody and lodged in the Allegheny County Jail. It is planned that a preliminary hearing will take place on May 15th.
