A person who used to teach and coach at Macon’s First Presbyterian Day (FPD) School is now being charged with child pornography.
The US Department of Justice says that 27-year-old Christian Baumgarth, who is from Atlanta but used to live in Macon, is charged with two counts of distributing child pornography and two counts of possessing child pornography.
If Baumgarth is found guilty, he could spend up to twenty years in jail for each count of both selling and having child pornography.
According to the indictment, Baumgarth shared videos on July 23, 2023, that showed a child engaging in sexually explicit material. He was also found to have child pornography of a prepubescent child under the age of 12 on his cell phone on August 1, 2023.
The First Presbyterian Day (FPD) School gave WGXA News more details about Christian Baumgarth, who worked at the school from 2018 to 2023.
While the 2023–2024 school year was still going on, Baumgarth was fired in August 2023, before the report was made public then, the school said that they had been told there was no proof of involvement with an FPD kid.
Baumgarth worked as a teacher and coach at FPD in Macon from 2018 to 2023. During that time, he also led small groups for the student ministry at Northway Church as a volunteer.
