Government job in Railway: The craze for government sector jobs is tremendous among the Indian youth. For stability in life, most of the youth appear in competitive examinations for government jobs. Indian Railways has always been the backbone of the Indian economy as well as the Government of India. The network of Indian Railways is so strong that it connects the states with each other. This is the main reason why railway jobs, along with job security, are among the most sought-after jobs in India.

First of all, let us tell you that Indian Railway Services has been divided into two cadres. The first is technical and the second is non-technical. Both the cadres have been divided into 4 parts. That is, Group A, Group B, Group C and Group D.

RRB GROUP A

Among these groups, Group A and Group B are official cadre posts. If understood in simple language, the highest level posts in Railways come in Group A. These include the posts of engineers, medical and officers. Due to which recruitment to most of the posts in Group A is done through UPSC examination. In which UPSC Civil Service Examination (CSE), Engineering Service Examination (ESE) and Combined Medical Service (CMS) examination are conducted for the selection of candidates.

A separate Special Class Railway Apprenticeship Examination (SCRA) is also conducted for the candidates who want to get a job in the railway sector after class 12th.

RRB GROUP B

Railway Recruitment Board does not conduct examination for Group B posts. One cannot apply for Group B posts. Only promotion is given in Group B. Employees who work in Group C category are promoted to Group B after a time by the Railway Board.

RRB Group C

Group C includes posts like clerk, supervisor and skilled labour. Group C includes technical and many non-technical posts. Let us tell you, for Group C, it is mandatory to have 10th pass for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) or Technician. Those candidates who have completed 12th can apply for Ticket Collector. Those who have completed graduation degree can apply for the post of Assistant Station Master under Group C. Under Group C, recruitment in Railways is done by the Railway Recruitment Board.

RRB GROUP D

Group D in Railways includes posts like Shooter, Safaiwala, Trackman, Peon, and Tracker among others. Let us tell you, Railway Board conducts RRB Group D recruitment region wise, hence along with releasing RRB Group D vacancies, it also releases notifications region wise.
