National Science Day Speech In Hindi: Every year on 28 February, National Science Day is celebrated in the country. On this day, Sir CV Raman announced the discovery of Raman Effect for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930. National Science Day is celebrated every year on 28 February to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by the great Indian scientist Dr. CV Raman. This year the theme of National Science Day 2024 has been fixed as ‘Indian Indigenous Technology for Developed India’. The purpose of this day is to inspire students towards science and to make the general public aware of science and scientific achievements. Best wishes to all of you on National Science Day. First of all, I salute the great Indian scientist Dr. CV Raman, in memory of whose great discovery National Science Day is being celebrated today. National Science Day is celebrated every year on 28 February in the country in honor of the unique gift given to the world of science by the great Indian scientist and Nobel laureate Dr. CV Raman, the Raman Effect. 28 February is the day when the world famous Indian scientist CV Raman announced his discovery of Raman Effect. He received the Nobel Prize in 1930 for this discovery.

In honor of this great invention of CV Raman, the Government of India decided in 1986 that every year 28 February would be celebrated as National Science Day. The first National Science Day was celebrated on February 28, 1987. Friends, every year some theme of National Science Day is kept by the government. This time its theme has been kept as “Indigenous Technology for Developed India”. Union Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh had announced this a few days ago.

On the day of National Science Day, many types of programs are organized across the country to encourage science and new discoveries and inventions and to tell about its importance. Great scientists of the country including CV Raman are remembered. The Government of India honors scientists for their commendable work. Also, schemes are announced for youth and students to come forward in the field of science.

Now let me tell you about CV Raman for whose achievement this day started being celebrated. CV Raman’s full name was Chandrashekhar Venkata Raman. He was born on 7 November 1888 in Tiruchilapalli, Tamil Nadu. His father was a lecturer in mathematics and physics. He studied at St. Aloysius Anglo-Indian High School in Visakhapatnam and Presidency College, then Madras. He completed his M.Sc. from Presidency College in 1907. He received a gold medal in Physics at the University of Madras. Between 1907 and 1933 he worked at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in Kolkata. During this period, he did extensive research on many topics related to physics.

Friends, it is important to know about CV Raman’s great discovery Raman Effect. Once when he was coming to India from London, seeing the blue sea water, curiosity arose in his mind as to why this water was blue. He came to India and did research on this. His important discovery on the change in light rays when passing through a transparent material was known as Raman Effect. When the rays of light collide with different objects or pass through them, what is the effect on the waves and their speed after scattering, his discovery told all this. Raman Effect discovery is being used all over the world today. In 1954, the Government of India awarded him the highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna. He was the first scientist not only from India but also from Asia to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics.

After retirement, he established the Raman Research Institute in Bengaluru. 1947 He became the Director of the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc). He died on November 21, 1970.
