Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2024: Why is Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrated, why is this day special

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2024: Every year 9 January is celebrated as Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in India. In fact, Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa on 9 January 1915 and after coming here played an important role in liberating the country. Therefore, January 9 was chosen as Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas to commemorate Gandhiji’s arrival in India. On Pravasi Diwas, those Indians are honored who have brought glory to India by achieving special achievements in their respective fields abroad. Every time on the occasion of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, a big conference is organized by the government in the country.

Celebrating Migrant Day was started in the year 2003 but in the year 2015 it was modified and it was decided to celebrate it every two years.
