Started preparing for UPSC at the age of 30, banker turned IAS officer

UPSC Success Story: It is difficult to crack UPSC exam with a full-time job, but there are some promising candidates who crack the UPSC exam with proper preparation and their intelligence. Today we are talking about IAS officer Saurabh Bhuvaniya, who has passed the UPSC exam with 113 rank along with the job.

Hailing from Dumka, Jharkhand, Saurabh Bhuvaniya completed his graduation in business from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. After this he completed courses to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) and Company Secretary. Then in the year 2015, Saurabh did MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University. After which he was selected in RBI. Here he was working as a manager.

After some time he realized that he wanted to give UPSC exam and then started preparing for this exam. In the year 2017, Saurabh appeared for the UPSC exam for the first time. Although he failed the first time. In an interview, he told that due to lack of experience in writing, he was not able to clear the exam. After which he worked hard on his writing skills and appeared again in the UPSC examination in the year 2018. This time his hard work paid off and he passed the exam.

Started UPSC preparation at the age of 30

Saurabh was 30 years old when he started preparing for UPSC. While generally every person wants to be financially and professionally settled by the age of 30, Saurabh started preparing for UPSC exam at the same age. He did not know whether he would be successful in this exam or not, but despite having a good job, he started preparing for the exam.

In this journey of becoming an IAS officer, Saurabh got full support from his father and wife. Speaking to the media, Saurabh had said that he enjoyed working for the RBI, however, he wanted to contribute directly to the well-being of the citizens, for which he chose the UPSC exam.
