When cops arrived at Chad Doerman’s house last summer, they saw him sitting calmly on the stoop next to the bodies of his sons, whom he had killed. Now, Doerman is pleading with the judge not to put him to death.
Doerman “lined up” the kids and shot them like they were prisoners. He even went after his own son, who escaped in a field.
The accused man of killing his three young sons in a cold-blooded execution style is trying to avoid the death sentence by saying he was “mentally ill.”
Charging himself with killing his children in a brutal way, 32-year-old Chad Doerman pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. In Monroe Township last summer, Clayton, 7, Hunter, 4, and Chase, 3, were “hunted” and killed by their father. A gunshot wound to the hand hurt the boys’ 34-year-old mother as well.
His defense team’s most recent court document says that Doerman begged to avoid the death sentence “because he was seriously mentally ill at the time of the offense.” That’s why there will be a court hearing on Friday at 1 p.m. in Clermont County Common Pleas Court.
He killed Clayton, 7, Hunter, 4, and Chase, 3, at their home in Monroe Township last summer. Authorities discovered Doerman with a gun on the porch, next to the bodies of his children.

David Gast, who was the lead prosecutor for Clermont County Municipal Court, talked about how Doerman had “hunched” one of his kids during the trial. One of the boys tried to run away into a field, but Doerman caught him and brought him back home. He then killed the other boys in an execution-style killing.
Gast said that these killings were the worst he had ever seen someone do. The bond for Doerman is a crazy $20 million, and he is still being held at the Clermont County Jail.
When police arrived at the crime scene in June of last year, they saw Doerman sitting casually on the steps outside his house with his gun. The cops who arrived saw the horrifying sight of his children’s lifeless bodies lying nearby.
As soon as rescuers got to the scene of the accident, they were unable to save any of the three children.
It’s also unclear what happened to the mother, who was also outside and shot in the hand while trying to keep her kids away from their father. They had another daughter who got away from the horrible scene and told people nearby, who then called the cops.
The police arrived just a short time after the killing. On a normal June evening in Monroe Township, which is about 20 miles east of Cincinnati, this scary event happened.
A woman in the area was driving home when she saw a blonde teen girl running down the street. Her stepfather was “killing everyone in her family,” the girl yelled.
Chad Doerman, 32, recently said he wasn’t guilty because he was insane.
