Successful in UPSC thrice, got IPS post twice, then became IAS officer

UPSC Success Story 2023: Every year lakhs of candidates appear for UPSC exam to become IAS, IFS and IPS. Only a few candidates among them are successful in this examination. There are some candidates who pass this examination more than once. Today we are going to tell about one such person. Who has been successful in UPSC exam three times consecutively.

The name of this person is IAS officer Jivani Kartik Nagjibhai, who is a resident of Gujarat. He wanted to become an IAS officer from the beginning, for which he even left the post of IPS.

This is Karthik’s educational qualification

Karthik Jivani studied till eighth grade from Gujarati Medium School. After this he took admission in an English medium school. After passing class 12th, he appeared in JEE Main and Advanced examinations. After passing both the exams, Karthik took admission in Mechanical Engineering course at IIT Bombay.

When Karthik was in the final year of his B.Tech course, he had decided to become an IAS officer. After which he started preparing for UPSC exam in the year 2016.

After one year of preparation for UPSC, he appeared for the UPSC exam for the first time in 2017, but failed. After which he appeared in the UPSC examination in the year 2018. This time he passed the UPSC exam with 94 rank. In which he was selected for the post of IPS. He was just two ranks short of becoming an IAS.

When he was selected for the post of IPS, he also started IPS training, but in the meantime he also kept preparing for the UPSC exam to become an IAS. Now Karthik decided to appear for the exam for the third time while his IPS training was going on. Let us tell you, IPS training takes place in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad. Taking a few days leave from here, he appeared in the UPSC examination in the year 2019. In which he secured 84 rank and this time also he was selected for the post of IPS.

While candidates do not clear the UPSC exam once, Karthik Jivani had cleared the UPSC exam twice and was selected for the IPS post both the times. Although he wanted to become an IAS officer from the beginning. After which he decided to appear in the examination for the fourth time.

Let us tell you, during his IPS training, he used to prepare for UPSC exam in his free time. His hard work paid off and in the year 2020, he was selected for the post of IAS by securing 8th rank in UPSC. According to his father, he had taken 15 days leave from IPS training to appear for the UPSC exam.

Kartik used to study mostly at night. He did not depend only on books for his preparation, rather he took the help of study material and lots of notes available online to prepare for the exam.

Karthik had said in an interview that he gives more importance to smart work rather than hard work. Due to this smart work, Karthik passed the UPSC exam consecutively in the years 2018, 2019 and 2020 and was selected for the post of IPS twice and IAS once.
