UPSC Prelims Postponed: It has been decided to postpone the Civil Services Examination (CSE) prelims and Indian Forest Service prelims exams conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) due to the Lok Sabha elections. Both these examinations were to be conducted on May 26, 2024. UPSC has given this information by issuing an official notice.
The notice reads, “Due to the schedule of General Elections, the Commission has decided to postpone the Civil Services (Prelims) Examination and Indian Forest Service Prelims 2024, which were scheduled to be held on 26-05-2024, now the Prelims Examination Will be organized on 16-6-2024″

The UPSC Civil Services Prelims exam date of May 26, 2024 is clashing with the schedule of Lok Sabha elections. Due to which a decision has been taken to postpone the examination. Lok Sabha elections will be held in 7 phases. Which will start from 19th April 2024 and will end on 1st June 2024. Counting of votes for all phases will be done on June 4, 2024. Let us tell you, before UPSC, ICAI had decided to postpone the CA Final and Inter May examinations.
UPSC Civil Services Examination is considered to be one of the toughest examinations in India. Every year lakhs of candidates apply for the exam to become IAS, IPS and IFS. This year, UPSC 2024 notification was released last month on 14th February.
As per UPSC CSE Exam Centers 2024, the Prelims exam will be conducted in 80 exam centres. Through this recruitment exam, a total of 1,056 vacancies will be filled. Out of which 40 vacancies are reserved for PwPD category candidates.
Will CUET UG exam be postponed?
The tentative date of Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2024 is from May 15 to May 31. These dates are clashing with the schedule of Lok Sabha elections. However, till now no notice has been received regarding postponement of the examination.
Meanwhile, UGC Chairman Jagdish Kumar had said after the release of the Lok Sabha election schedule that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) will be conducted between May 15 and May 31, 2024, as was announced earlier and as per the Lok Sabha election schedule. Because there will be no change in the exam dates. The final datesheet will be released after the completion of the registration process on March 26, as the two dates of CUET exam are clashing with the election dates of May 20 and 25.
