Introduction
Entry-level goods into Australia may be subject to additional fees, GST, and/or duties. The type of goods and the nation of origin are two criteria that affect the rates of customs duty. If an exporter’s sales of low-value items imported into Australia by consumers (as well as any other sales made that are connected to Australia) total AU$75,000 or more over the course of a calendar year, they simply need to register for GST. The exporter will not need to register for GST if they only sell items imported by GST-registered enterprises to Australia.

Determination of Import Taxes
To determine your import taxes you may need to:
· Transfer the purchase’s value from the relevant currency to Australian dollars (AUD).
· Take 5 percent of the products’ value to determine the customs duty.
· Add the purchase price (in Australian dollars) to the freight and insurance charges (also in Australian dollars), then deduct 10% from that total to determine your GST liability.
· Total the GST liability and customs charges.
Taxes and Duties
Goods and Services Tax (GST)
10% of the taxable importation value is the formula used to compute GST on imports.
Luxury Car Tax (LCT)
Generally speaking, a standard rate of 5% import duty on Free on Board (FOB) value is applied to the majority of general cargo.
Customs duty
For the 2022–2023 fiscal year, the car value that is above the LCT barrier is $69,152. The current LCT rate is 33% of that amount.
The Wine Equalisation Tax (WET)
The final retail price of wine sold in Australia includes the wholesale value of the wine, which is subject to a current WET rate of 29%.

Do freight forwarding and global logistics services differ from one another?
Indeed! Although they involve some identical procedures, logistics, and freight forwarding are two different services.
The administration and coordination of the actual transport and delivery procedures involved in transporting products between sites is referred to as freight forwarding.
However, the term “logistics” encompasses a wider range of services, among which freight forwarding is one. Fleet, warehouse, and inventory management are further logistics-related services.
